CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Harmony | Balance| Vitality
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, noninvasive, hands-on way of evaluating and improving the functioning of the craniosacral system, which is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using soft touch, usually no greater than the weight of a nickel, the CST therapist can recognize and release restrictions in the craniosacral system to enhance the function of the central nervous system.
CST works to assist the body’s own natural healing processes and is used as an effective means for treating a wide range of disease and dysfunction, particularly chronic neck and back pain, depression, anxiety, hormonal imbalance, headaches, and immune disorders. Patient typically emerge from a session of CST deeply relaxed, as though they’ve had a restorative nap.
CST was originally developed by osteopathic physician Dr. William Sutherland in the 1930s. From 1975 to 1983, another osteopathic physician John E. Upledger conducted extensive scientific studies on the craniosacral system at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics. Dr. Wendy's CST sessions typically last 60 minutes.
